             abstract = "Through this work we evaluated the potential use of digital 
                         elevation model from ASTER GDEM products to characterize the 
                         height of the Renascen{\c{c}}a city of PR. The data obtained from 
                         ASTER GDEM were correlated with products obtained from maps 
                         prepared by the Brazilian Army, aiming to analyze the degree core 
                         correspondence cards between the two methods. The comparison of 
                         the data showed that there is a direct correlation, in an area of 
                         20,496.96 ha, which represents 48.19% of the territory. The 
                         remainder of the territorial extension, or 51.81%, no 
                         correspondence between the areas classified by both methods. If 
                         adopted an acceptance threshold of ± 50m above sea level, the 
                         correlation between the altitude classes generated by the two 
                         methods, reaches a total of 38,986.65 hectares, accounting for 
                         91.67% of the territory. Whereas, the ASTER GDEM data used, had no 
                         control points and crude form, by which the maps were generated, 
                         it can be assumed that the method has good potential for the 
                         altimetric study of the municipalities of Southwest Paran{\'a} 
                         State. Therefore, through this study it was demonstrated that the 
                         ASTER GDEM data, can be used to update the maps covering different 
                         regions of Brazil and once adopted checkpoints will present these 
                         data and altimetric good planimetric accuracy.",
